Call for Abstracts – ARUA CoE in Notions of Identity International Conference

The ARUA CoE in Notions of Identity is accepting abstracts for its hybrid International Conference on the theme: “African Identit(ies): Being, Becoming and Belonging in an age of Cosmopolitanization”. The conference will be held from 13th – 15th September 2023 at the Yusuf Lule Central Teaching Facility, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.

Interested participants are encouraged to submit their up to one-page abstracts to the conference organizing committee at https://coeidentities.mak.ac.ug/call-for-abstracts no later than 15th April 2023. Panels and paper abstracts are invited along the following thematic areas:

  1. Studying identities as theoretical and conceptual
  2. Researching identities: Methodology and Method
  3. Identity politics and politics of identity
  4. African Feminist and Gender politics
  5. Group identities
  6. Applied identities (Social Economic, Culture, Religious, etc)
  7. Identity and Development

Key Conference Timelines:

15th April 2023 – Abstracts submission Deadline:

15th May 2023 – Notification of decision of conference committee:

15th June 2023 – Full paper submissions
