With support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the African Research Universities Alliance will host a 2-day workshop in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 26-27 February 2018 for the purpose of agreeing on and setting performance indicators for member universities. The purpose of the workshop is to (a) present a preliminary knowledge profile of each university to serve as a baseline, using bibliometric data; (b) present a generic logic model to demonstrate how indicator data can be used to evaluate and monitor research impact; (c) share the lessons learnt from the HERANA project and (d) raise awareness of capacity required (related to the systems, organisational structures, processes and procedures) to enable data gathering and sharing on a sustainable basis. This will be informed by a questionnaire or survey on such capacity currently in place at member institutions that will be circulated to each university prior to the workshop.
